There are three bridges over the Cape Fear in Bladen County. The Tar Heel Bridge was built in 1955 and is due for replacement. The NC Hwy 701 Bridge at Elizabethtown was built in 1984. It replaced the McGirt Bridge, built in 1925. The third bridge is just over the county line dividing Bladen County from Columbus County on Hwy. 11.
